Do you use google analytics to measure your customer activities?

I do.

Here are my 6 favorite features in google analytics…

1. Real-Time User:

It helps you find out what’s going on with your website in real time.

And most importantly it tracks device wise so that you can know what % users are coming from your desktop and what percentage is coming from mobile or tab!

It also helps you measure in what time your user is significantly low so that you can prevent that from happening in the future.

In my company, it’s always showing on the dashboard of our sales team to observe the real-time data and specify the shortcomings.

2. Channels Data:

When your users are coming from multiple channels it’s really important to measure each of the channels conversion individually. Here comes the traffic data from acquisition section. It shows you from where your users are coming most whether it’s organic, direct, and social or referral.

It also shows you the e-commerce conversion rate so that you understand the ratio between your transactions and your user.

3. All Pages Data:

If you are working on an e-commerce sector, it’s really important to know the unique page views of the most important pages in your site. It helps you track and solve the specific problems of individual pages if there any.

It also shows you the average page duration and bounce rate which can be the crucial metric for some specific pages.

4. Funnel Visualization Data:

When you set a goal in google analytics, you expect to visualize it to see the possible drops in that goal. Here comes the funnel visualization data. It helps you find the drop of individual pages and solve the issues.

If you are working in an e-commerce as I am you will find it fascinating to find how many of your users are going from cart to shipping page and shipping to payment page. We already solved a lot of significant issues to resolve our drops in payment page which were distraction to users and which we didn’t know about before tracking this goal.

5. Campaign Data:

If you use multiple campaigns from multiple channels to drive sell, it’s really important to track each campaign individually. Google Analytics campaign data helps you find out that pretty easily.

If you use utm campaign parameters in your campaign link, it tracks your data and show it in this section. It tells you about the no of users who clicked on that link as well as the purchase data from clicking on that link.

6. Browser and OS Data:

Recently this section became a significant sector for our company. As we launched an updated version of our site, we didn’t check this part for 1 week. As a result we lost one of our browsers transaction significantly.

The reason was our new site was not compatible to that browser and because of that no one was able to purchase coming from that browser. When one of our customers inform us about that, we were pretty shocked about it. From then this browser data became a very important part of our tracking. Now we all are pretty aware of the fact, which browser we are supporting fully and which ones are partially. Because of this sections data, we designed individual pages for some browser also.

Google Analytics is very important for anyone who is working online. It tracks and helps you measure the most important sections of your business. If you are not using it till now, start now.

Do the course suggested by “Academy for Ads”, Participate for “Google Analytics Individual Qualification” Exam (as the exam helps you to learn well) pass the exam and you are all ready to go and use google analytics. You can use google analytics even if you don’t seat for the exam or pass the exam.
