How do you know your marketing efforts are working?

You need analytics.

But what is it? And how can it help?

What Are Marketing Analytics?

Analytics is a series of metrics and KPIs bundled up into a dashboard or a series of dashboards. These KPIs and Metrics can help you understand what works and what doesn’t work and ensure you are getting results for your investment, whether it’s time or money.

Luckily, most services have tracking and reports that allow you to see how the channel is performing. Social networks, email services and other marketing tools will have a basic reporting tool at the very least.

Keeping track of everything can be difficult, but pulling everything into a spreadsheet can help you get ahead around each channel and how you are performing overall.

What are Marketing Analytics Examples?

Google Analytics

The most famous marketing analytics is Google Analytics. This is a free platform that most companies will have available. It’s easy to install into most websites, so ask your web developer if they can help you install it.

Google Analytics gives you a multitude of KPIs, from web visitor demographics to the average time a user spends on your website. These tools allow you to dive into your website data and find issues relating to conversions, such as pages where customers immediately leave your website or pages which struggle to convert customers. Google offers several free training courses to help you understand the software and the learnings you can get from it.

Facebook Insights

Facebook Insights is the analytics tool behind Facebook and Instagram. This platform allows you to see the reach you are getting from your Facebook page post and the engagement rate of your posts. These dashboards are incredibly helpful when it comes to understanding what makes your followers click, read or share.

SEMRush

SEMrush is an excellent analytics platform with an SEO slant. The dashboards show analysis of your on-page, off-page and technical SEO features, as well as content marketing, PPC and social media. This can help pick up some issues that can be fixed to drive up your organic search results.
