It’s a new year and like many of you, we’re fired up and ready to make the most of 2018.

With that being said, here are three events happening in this year that are great networking opportunities for both marketers and business executives looking to meet influential people doing great things in Japan while making the most of their time here.

Marketing in Japan

What is it?

Marketing in Japan is a Meetup created by “yours truly” with the hope of bringing together both business executives and marketers for an honest conversation on how to use social media and other new innovations in advertising to drive business forward in Japan.

This event is more specifically geared around how to use social media for business in 2018 (small, medium, large) and takeaways on what you can do now to drive some big results later.

Who’s attending?

At this event expect to see a small crowd of advertising folks and a few brand executives that we work with. Also, it looks like we’ll have a good startup crowd showing up as well.

Why we love it?

Duh, we created it. But other than that we love it because we love people and ideas. Getting to meet people offline and hear their stories while also helping them grow their business is why we’re here in Japan and being able to host events like this make the entire experience a blessing.

Business in Japan

What is it?

BIJ is a community for executives working in Japan created by Jason Ball and a few others. This is personally one of my favorites forums in Japan and one of the best places to meet other professionals. On January 30th they’ll be holding a Shinnenkai in Gotanda, Tokyo from 7pm. Stay tuned to their Doorkeeper page here for more details.

Who’s attending?

BIJ is the largest online business community in Japan and their LinkedIn group has over 55,000 professionals in it, to join go here. At this event you can expect to find a mix of startup founders, agency executives, business decision makers, and some pretty cool VIP’s that have done some amazing things over the last decade in Japan.

Why we love it?

At the last event we got a paying client and a meeting with one of the most innovative investment firms in Japan just by saying hello and doing a lot of listening.

If you’re looking to build your network, don’t miss out on this event while finding ways to be a part of the business in Japan community.

Tokyo Digital Marketers

What is it?

TDM is a Meetup created by Jeff Crawford and team over at JC DIGITAL. This months event is about the struggle Japanese companies have with Marketing as a Business Function and how to actually work through that to develop great campaigns. You can register for the event here.

Who’s attending?

TDM is usually booked with a mix of marketers from both brand and agency side along side vendors and technology representatives as well. I’ve personally spoken at this event and attend every month, they bring in top notch talent and speakers, so you’ll definitely learn a lot.

Why we love it?

Similar to BIJ, TDM is great for making new professional connections. In just two TDM events, we’ve been introduced to new client opportunities, partnerships, and have even found talent to work with.
