A New Challenge for me

COVID-19 changed our lifestyle and forced us to spend more time at home.The way to maintain connection and interaction with the world is social media. In today’s world, there are many different platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc and I have accounts in several of them. But I am always the person who reads and shares content, not the person who writes and creates. I am going to introduce myself and why am I here blogging.

For some family issues, my parents moved house quite frequently.That made me grow in different environments and I was able to quickly adapt to a new place when I was a child. Also this was the reason I decided to study abroad in the U.S. when I graduated from Middle School in China. I joined an exchange program and went to High School in Wisconsin. Since it was a one year program, I transferred to a High School in San Diego later on. After graduation I was accepted by University of Denver in Hospitality Management. This is my academic path and I learned how to exchange ideas and communicate with people who have other cultures and backgrounds. Also during my undergraduate admission, I learned to be culture intelligent and cooperated with people from all around the world. My long-term career goal is work in the hotel industry such as operating a restaurant. I had an internship in the Four Season Hotel Shenzhen which was in my hometown last summer. It was a remote position in the Marketing Department because of the pandemic. I was shocked by the money and effort they put in Marketing even though the brand was well-known. Hospitality is all about creating good memories for guests and the industry is more sophisticated and diverse. Customers not only look for the experience of staying in a hotel, but also seek for fine food, tourism, and entertainment activities which pair with the hotel. Thus, Marketing your business is the method to gain customers and cooperate with other businesses.

I know that speaking up for myself is one of my weaknesses and I am here to learn and practice. At least, I hope I will be comfortable to market myself, share content after receiving my master ‘s degree. This is just the start up for my career and eventually I am capable of doing what I am passionate about.
