If you are a qualified social media manager, are you acknowledge of these facts behind social media? Please verify your daily routine first, as a reference for future social media managers.

Daily Routine

  • 9–10 am: Check emails and reply to all messages across social media
  • 10–12 pm: Focusing on creative content work
  • 12–1 pm: Break for lunch or anything you would like to do
  • 1–2 pm: Analyze results and create reports
  • 2–4 pm: Meeting with teams for analysis and arrangement
  • 4–5 pm: Read newsletters and blogs…something related
  • 5–5:30 pm: Checklist for today & TO-DO list for tomorrow

Managers usually have various kinds of schedules themselves, but they all have the outlined events to do in a day. Creative content is an essential part of the social media branch to come out with better data like views, impressions, likes, or followers.

BUT DO THESE NUMBERS MATTER?

Numbers don’t matter, influences matter! All the points Gary mentioned are close to home. There are so many fake things the internet can make, it is always hard for us to measure via just NUMBERS.

I cannot deny the importance of numbers, they are a crucial reference for us to execute business online. We have to define all the Click-Through-Rate (CTR), Cost-Per-Click (CPC), Cost-Per-Conversion, and Cost-Per-Acquisition.

Which are important to measure the success of the online campaign. It is easy to see the overview from Google Analysis, saving power by calculating all invisible actions is a big step for more investment in social media platforms.

Influences are much more than Numbers!

Let me give an example first for Sephora’s influencers on Instagram

  1. Julia
  • 10,000 followers, 900 likes, and 50 comments per post
  • Only brings 5 in sales

2. Ninan

  • 3,000 followers, 1,200 likes, and 300 comments per post
  • Brings 200 in sales

In this case, I can tell Ninan did a much better job than Julia, but the budget spent is more on Julia for her 10,000 followers. But the results showed Ninan has more active and loyal followers, who are attracted by Ninan’s outfit or daily posts and pay enough attention to review all her recommendations with all trust.

Followers are easy to be faked through the internet, they may be attracted by other sports-related posts, so will not be influenced by Sephora’s promotion.

As a Social Media Manager

You have to own an efficient TO-DO list every day. While creating creative content and campaign, considering media effectiveness is also vital for the development of your brand. Nonetheless, it is hard to measure the real influences, more according attention should be paid to whatever media, and influencers you decide to use for business.

“Quality over quantity. Depth over width.” Always do the right things in the right direction. Studying new things never stop, as a manager.
