What is Content Marketing?

Content Marketing — is a form of guerilla marketing that is used as digital marketing tactic to help businesses share relevent content with their desired consumer. Businesses leverage social platform algorithms to connect the content to the audience it was created for. The key difference in content marketing from other forms of Guerilla Marketing is the emphasis on authenticity and focus on building genuine connection/relationship with the consumer.

Some examples of content marketing include: Search Engine Optimization (SEO), videos/reels, storytelling, User Generated Gontent (UGC), influencer collaborations & brand partnerships, blogs, newsletters, emails, podcasts… I think you get the picture.

Why is it important?

As you can see the list of examples is expansive and understably overwhelming for any small business (SMB) that is just starting out. However, it’s essential that SMBs understand how to maximze content marketing for profitablity and visibility because in this age of social currency, connecting to and with the target audience is crucial for driving Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) and establishng a distinguished value propostition that sets businesses/brands apart from their competitors. And It’s easier to master than you think I promise.

The 5 C’s of Content Marketing

As a marketing nerd, below is my take on the 5 C’s of Content Marketing, combined principles of the ones outlined from Timmerman Group & Entrepreneur.com. A Best Practices framework that any small businees owner can keep in mind when looking jumpstart or revive their digital marketing strategy:
