What is a digital marketing strategy? It is a series of actions that enables you to use online marketing channels to achieve goals. If anyone wants to build a digital marketing strategy for a client, COVID-19 must be considered into the process because the pandemic changes human life and habits. So if we have to build one for a client during the pandemic, what are the most important things that the client must know before the digital marketing strategy is built?

1. Understand the products or services. You must understand the products or services better than anyone in the world. During the pandemic, sometimes people are not allowed to go out and try the real products or services in person. You have to think the best description for customers in order to make them to have a better understanding on the products or services in distance.

2. Target the right group. Sometimes, potential customers can find things they need by themselves because they can try them on in person. As now, you have to find what customers need because no one will take the risk to stay in the crowd. Therefore, you should select a group of people or an age range to make an accurate targeting, both parties will same time and money to make choice.

3. Research on social media. During the pandemic, people spend more time on social medias and TV. You must do a research about popular social medias or TV channels. Doing an advertisement is not cheap so why don’t you spend less to make a huge influence?

4. Set a clear and realistic goal. The goal refers to a S.M.A.R.T goal which should be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timely. Specific means the goal should precise. Measurable means you can measure whether you have accomplished the goal. Attainable means the goal is realistic. Relevant means the goal must relate to the target. Timely means you have to set a timeframe to achieve the goal.

5. Establish the budget. You make a plan about how much you will spend on digital marketing strategy and campaign. The budget can influence the result of a strategy and campaign. Especially during the pandemic, you should prepare more budget than usual time because advertisements will cost more and the situation is changing.
