Businesses must undergo digital transformation to cope with technological advancement in the contemporary world. Without information on a suitable digital strategy, most organizations often fail to improve their performance. Therefore, differentiating business capabilities through digital strategy requires investment not only information technology but also in understanding its fundamental elements and aspects of management.

Managers and entrepreneurs aiming to transform tech-dependent business departments must understand that digital strategies have several vital components. Depending on the type of business and industry, some components are more relevant than others. For instance, the five fundamental elements of a digital strategy include online presence, cloud computing, customer interaction, digital marketing, and online security. These aspects are essential in the development of a roadmap and concrete plan of commitment to the ultimate goals of an organization.

Online presence, cloud computing, customer interaction, digital marketing, and online security.

Before choosing a digital strategy, a company must determine the location of its customers and where they can access the services or products. Online presence covers social media platforms, company websites, links, and corporate profiles, while cloud computing entails storing and accessing a business’s programs and data through the internet as opposed to computer hard drives. Cloud computing boosts a company’s capabilities without the purchase of additional software and the hustle of acquiring new technology infrastructure. Customer interaction allows businesses to communicate with customers through means of their choice. It would be noble to invest in interaction channels that suit the customers. The goal of every business is to access its customers and markets through product promotion. Digital strategies offer online marketing tools and resources that firms must consider before settling on a particular method. The fifth and most crucial component of a digital strategy is online security. The technology used must protect the computer-generated information of the company stored in its servers and computers.

In essence, digital strategies allow businesses to transform their cultures through technology. They also target various processes and activities of businesses to enhance service delivery to the customer. Every manager and entrepreneur must consider all these factors before opting to implement a particular digital strategy technology.
