A digital strategy is the trend of the overall marketing strategy. With the growth of technology, digital platforms can help a business to achieve multiple goals rapidly and effectively. Also, during difficult times like now, under the situation of COVID-19, the advantages of applying a digital strategy are more obvious. Thus, what should we know before we apply a digital strategy?

Five most important things to know

User experience is extremely important. Users tend to leave and never go back to one system if the UX design is bad. So what is a good UX design? The ability to control, quality, and credibility, limited choices, site speed, good content, etc. Those are elements of a good UX design. We want to provide a user-friendly, or user-centered UX design to satisfy the needs of our customers.

Social media is taking place. People spend 12 hours per day on social media. This creates huge network traffic, and we increase the effectiveness when we manage well on the social media channels. We can connect and engage our customers, provide customer service, build brand awareness, and persuade our customers on social media channels. Those can make a brand reputation and drive profit eventually.

Another thing is mobile marketing. Data shows that American adults spend about 3 hours and 30 minutes a day in 2019. However, I believe under the situation of COVID-19, and with the limitation of outgoing activities, the time spend on a mobile phone should be much longer. Mobile is more than a platform, it has become users’ primary search tool. We can do real-time interaction with our customers, provide loyalty apps, and do mobile payments. Mobile is taking place of PC, and we cannot afford the disadvantage of not using mobile strategy.

SEO, as known as search engine optimization, is also an important fact of our digital strategy. It’s necessary to use SEO to increase our brand awareness. SEO can create traffic and conversions for the business. We can chase the algorithm, and create metrics-informed content to get ourselves found in order the achieve the goals.

Last but not the least, content marketing is necessary for a digital strategy. Content is the core of digital marketing. When people spend time on social media, they share content. We can tell our brand story and share good content to the customers to engage them. Also, good content can be made in many forms like blogs, images, YouTube videos, Tweets, infographics, etc. Providing content in different platforms can keep our customers interested and increase engagement.

There are some other important things to know before using a digital strategy, but I believe UX, social media, mobile marketing, SEO, and content marketing are the top 5 elements.
