Good UX Never Makes Customers Confused
What is a good website UX (User experience) design? To make it simple, a good UX makes users easily reach their goal on the website without wasting any time or making any mistakes. For a shopping website, it should help their customers quickly find out the product they want and check out easily.
Here we will be using Gardein’s website for an example. Quick background introduction for Gardein. Gardein is a plant-based artificial meat company that selling plant-based jerky, chicken, or pork products. Imaging we are a normal customer who just trying to buy some of their products from their website. Our user experience starts with macroscopical observations first, then moves to different details.
Website UX helps users process
The first thing we realized is the website reaction time, which Gardein did a great job. Since If their reaction time is too long, their customers may get time to visit their competitors' websites. Once we open the page, on the top of the website, there are only three buttons that include the list of their products, the benefits of eating their products, and their distributors' websites and locations. All those three obvious buttons just meet all their customers' needs and no chance to let customers get confused at all. When we decided which product we want, the website takes a total of three clicks to the checkout page. Without too many words to read, pages to click, unnecessary information to make the website complex. The whole process is user-centered simple and pleasant to use. Even this is our first time visiting Gardein’s website, we can get navigate clearly, with high efficiency and learnability.
Website UX makes users comfortable
As a plant-based artificial meat company, a large part of their customers is looking for a healthy lifestyle. A thin shade website color may more fit customers' expectations. Gardein’s website is mainly white and green in color, which is sending their customer an idea of a clean, healthy, environmentally friendly, and comfortable experience. Also, the whole website design is not much innovation or different from most other shopping websites, so customers will not need to use some brain to learn something new in order to make the purchase. All the buttons are fitting into the pictures and look clickable. The layout is fitting using habit even on mobile devices as well.
Website UX brings users aesthetic
From the aesthetics perspective, the pictures on the website look clean and relaxing. By just viewing the pictures without any words, customers can already get an idea of how to cook the product and how it will taste like. All the information shows the value of the brand and makes their customers get attracted.
