If you don’t know big data yet, be sure to watch this video. Within five minutes, you will know what big data is!

Big data is larger, more complex data sets, especially from new data sources. These data sets are so voluminous that traditional data processing software just can’t manage them. But these massive volumes of data can be used to address business problems you wouldn’t have been able to tackle before.

I believe that for some people, this concept is still too abstract. Don’t miss the picture below: “The amount of big data per minute in 2019”. So now, you should have a relatively clear understanding of big data.

Connect big data and marketing

Many companies are beginning to realize the significance of big data, and are actively integrating big data into their company’s daily behavior. Moreover, As we all know, Facebook is relatively advanced in terms of targeted advertisement. Have you tried using big data to find potential consumers? The following video will teach you how to use the Facebook tool to find your potential customers.

Big data is not a solution, but a tool for finding solutions.

Through the above introduction, we now understand big data and tools that use big data. Now, forget our identity as a marketer and become a real consumer in life. Have you ever encountered the following phenomenon: In daily life, you suddenly become curious about a brand, so you go to Google to search. What surprised you is that in the next few days, you have seen relevant advertisements on various social media. In my opinion, there is very little chance that you will not encounter this phenomenon.

Based on my own experience, last month, I was suddenly interested in an apartment in New Jersey, so I searched for “an apartment in New Jersey.” The following week, I received an advertisement for my current apartment on Instagram every day. Compared to being attracted by advertisements, I am more concerned about whether my personal information is leaked? How do Google and Instagram, which are not in the same group, share my information? Is my information still used in other ways?

This targeted advertisement not only failed to attract me as a potential customer in the future, but even added more annoyance and discomfort to me.Such uncomfortable targeted advertising is not a minority. Many companies only focus on the amount of big data, but they cannot analyze the meaning of big data very well.

How can we solve this problem? As mentioned in the first video, big data also has five characteristics that belong to it, “Velocity、volume、value, Variety and Veracity ”.

When using and analyzing big data, we can’t just focus on the first two attributes “Velocity and volume.” Also, understand the last three attributes “value, Variety, and Veracity / Validity.” It is not that whoever has the most data can successfully analyze the current and future situation. As shown on the above, in a series of processes, big data is used for classification analysis. Use specific data for different characteristics to better understand target consumers. It is crucial to create the right content at the right time to deliver brand value to the right target consumers based on the results of big data.

Otherwise, you will encounter the phenomenon I mentioned earlier. The company just uses big data on the surface to reach its target consumers. However, it still gives the target consumer a very uncomfortable feeling, which is likely to disorient the target consumer.

Remember: Big data is not a solution, but a tool for finding solutions.
