Firstly, I will introduce myself to you guys and know more about me. My family name is Wang and my first name is Jialu, but I have always been called my English name Joanna Wang. I am an international student from China and this is my eighth year studying abroad in the United States. I lived in Baishan City, China during my childhood and lived in San Francisco for seven years. With both dual culture backgrounds, I experienced many interesting things and different cultural scenes.I am proficient in Chinese Mandarin and English as well. I hope the bilingual and bicultural can help to explore more fun things in my blog.

Do you really know me?

Do you know what a Zodiac is? I was born in 1999, originally my Zodiac is Rabbit, actually is Tiger. I have 9 cousins, I am the youngest one. I have four nieces and four nephews in my family tree. I have an aunt who lives in San Francisco, California. I took my high school and undergraduate school in the Bay Area.

Baishan, China is my hometown, with the same weather as New York with four distinct seasons. That is the most important reason I came to New York for my graduate school. Changbai Mountain is the most popular viewpoint during the winter which is located in my hometown. All tourists went to Changbai Mountain for skiing and hot springs.

Why did I choose Integrated Marketing and NYU?

I always have great passion for this field and aim to pursue more diversified and in-depth education. With the technology development of the internet, in China, boomed a profession called anchors. They not only cooperate with each brand to provide the lowest prices to customers, but also help farmers in remote villages sell agricultural products. With marketing channels such as live broadcast on social media and seasonal sales, farmers were able to earn stable profits. Inspired by the power of online marketing, I am excited to contribute my own strength in this field. Another reason I chose New York University is that I am highly impressed with the flexible course arrangement. As most of the courses take place in the afternoon and evening, I can spend more time looking for an internship or doing research. This would be a great way for a fresh graduate like me to accumulate practical industry experience.

Something happened…

In my sophomore year, I joined a dance club with a group of members with common interests. Though members of this club all have different course arrangements and weekly schedules, we still managed to rehearse together regularly. After a month of collaborations and mutual support, we finally conquered the entire dance, posted it on social platforms and received a great buzz! In terms of our promotion strategy, we took Instagram and YouTube as the main marketing platforms as we believe that the audience of these two social media are mostly young people, and there will be a greater chance of liking our videos and following us. Through the messages on these two online platforms, we got a lot of positive feedback as well as what we need to improve in the future, and how to get more attention from the market. Through this experience, I learned how important it is to select a correct social media channel so that we could receive valuable comments and suggestions, and most importantly, target effectively to our audiences.

Now I wish…

In fact, this blog is a bit difficult for me, not because I can’t write. As I write this blog, I need to re-examine my past and myself. But when I finished writing this blog, I suddenly realized that there are some highlights happened in my past, and I was lucky to be here. For the future blogs, I hope you will like it. I will try my best to tell my thoughts about Marketing and be a good marketer.
