Let’s begin with an introduction. My name is Victoria Stein, and this is my first attempt at staying relevant in today’s digital world via a written blog. To be honest my first attempt would have been in 2007 when I created a Myspace page. That was my first time writing on the web, not that I knew at age 14 I was inherently marketing myself to the world. It was just the “cool” thing to do at that time. Fast forward to 2021 where blogging is a key component to staying relevant.

Don’t call it a comeback! It’s getting with the times. I now understood the importance of blogging in today’s digital world. It’s the gate way to making meaningful connections, elevating your brand or business, staying informed and much more. I need to think about how to be more involved on social media and writing forums such as Twitter, Tumblr or even LinkedIn. Blogging is part of our future. The world is doing it so what is stopping me?

Take a second to think if you are embracing social media platforms. What platforms are you using to stay relevant? Are you actively posting?

If you are already publishing continuous content somewhere on social media, then you are ahead of the game. I’m an aspiring marketer with no real presence on the web. I do not advise. At 28 years old, I’m now feeling the pressures to catch up with today’s society who have mastered the art of digital marketing. Whether it’s marketing themselves or their brand. I see the value in learning and putting that into practice.

Growing up I was nicknamed the “chatter box” by all my cousins. Speaking in front of an audience or to a group of strangers has never been a fear of mine. Instead, I find putting my words into a blog post to be more intimidating. You are no longer talking to a select number of people in a room. You are now reaching the world.

In graduate school at NYU, I am taught that marketing yourself on the internet is beneficial to you and perhaps your future employers. This is true. Although, I find myself excited about blogging because I enjoy sharing my ideas with others. I am more focused on the help it may bring to those who read it. With that mindset it is easier for me to write on here knowing that what I have to say could be useful to someone who is a marketer, wants to learn more about digital marketing or just someone looking for a good marketing story.

So, for the next several weeks join me as I dive deep into some marketing hot topics.
