I am the Intrigue! What are you?
How fascinated are you?
Have you ever wondered how people see you? Have you ever wondered what they think of you when they get to know you a little more? I am a person who does not let myself get affected by the idea others have about me. Maybe it has to do with a trait of my personality. Who knows? But I frankly believe that we all are unique human beings, and everyone should be whatever they want to be. What fascinates me when I meet new people is to be confident about who they are, no matter how different they are. Because we are all very different, and we should be, that is very inspiring to me.
Quick question!
If I told you that you could see how others perceive you as a person, would you take it? Well, I did because, as a marketer, I have to be knowledgeable about how people see me as a personality in my job. This will give me the leverage of knowing whom I will be more able to inspire and how. I found “The Fascinate test” created by New York Times best-selling author and world-class branding expert Sally Hogshead. Over ten years of research, spanning fields of study from neurology to biological anthropology, went into the making of this 28-question test which identifies your personality’s most fascinating communication advantages.
How does it feel?
When I took the test, I felt like I hadn’t asked myself these questions before. They questioned my reaction to different situations thoughts and asked personality questions. It was an exciting and unique experience because I rediscovered myself while answering these questions and getting to know myself better.
Time of truth.
The results fascinated me. I really wouldn’t believe a few things that this test showed me. First, the test comes out with an archetype, then with some primary personality descriptors, and lastly, specialty adjectives. My archetype is “the intrigue,” Which means that the first advantage is that I am a very passionate person, and second, I am very mystique.
When I saw the results, I felt curious to understand what that meant. I sat down and thought…Am I the Intrigue? Really? How am I supposed to take that? Is that something good or bad? I did not know how to feel. When it comes to our personality traits, we all tend not to be very open to hearing about the destructive features, and at first, I felt a little bit afraid to face them.
After this tiny moment where I felt that I might see something that I didn’t like, I started looking closely at the results to better understand the definition of intrigue.
So basically, how does the world see me?
Based on the results, I understood that the world thinks that I have a rare ability to switch between taking an analytical view and emotionally connecting. I don’t always show what’s on my mind. My character is complex and rich. I am not superficial, and it takes time to get to know me well. I am capable of finding the most effective method to persuade an audience. Last but not least, I am the most complex of all the Archetypes. HAHA. I knew that one.
My highest and best values were that my smooth and soft exterior hid a solid inner core. Intrigues can relate to things both intellectually and emotionally. I can open up and explain my keen desire to get promoted to a specific job. But I can also review my performance in an objective, analytical way. I can adapt to different situations because I can access either my expressive or rational side when required.
Did I relate to that?
Yes, I did. I always thought I could be susceptible when I have to, but extremely rational on another occasion. I am open to speaking about what I have in mind, but it always derives from a rigorous review. I would never ask for something that I don’t deserve, and lastly, I believe that people see me as a lovely and soft person, but on the inside, there is a power that no one was prepared for.
Are you going to use this against me?
Getting feedback honestly is a massive weapon, and understanding how the world sees you is very important in brand building. For example, the fact that I can adapt on different occasions can help me strengthen my people skills and feel comfortable being surrounded by different personalities. Every little detail a person knows about their character is vital to boost confidence. There is nothing more valuable when you know what you can and can’t do. Because the only way that you can sell your ideas and yourself to others is by actually understanding who you are and what you want.
