Is AI the next big thing? Do we need to adapt to it?
A century ago, or two I heard almost the same thing about cell phones. Did it change the way we function? YES. Did it change how we perceive things? YES. But was it the end for landline manufacturing industries? YES.
It was a change. It has its risks. Technology has its challenges until we learn how to use them in the right way and THAT is exactly how I perceive the viral talk of AI, 20 years later.
What is AI?
Thanks to Hollywood, when many of us think about AI we envisage robots taking over the world. And maybe because it is largely misunderstood is why many fear it. But it simply won’t go away.
AI is simply put, “a branch of computer science focusing on developing applications and technology to perform like human beings, based on information gathered from behavior patterns, speech recognition, online activity, knowledge databases, etc.”
Google, always a step ahead, has announced its decision to go AI-first. And of course, many other businesses will follow suit, if they haven’t already.
Infosys-commissioned study of 1,600 business and IT leaders, one of which was that 76 percent agreed that AI was fundamental to the success of their company’s strategy.
How is AI impacting businesses in digital marketing?
Effective Marketing: Ever overthink? Doubt your decisions? Imagine resting your brain with the use of AI for data-driven analysis to end your guesswork for effective marketing strategies.
Increases Productivity: If you are like me and hate doing repetitive jobs, AI is your god-send for automation. Now, the way I see it, AI frees time for human beings to concentrate on more “meaningful tasks”.
Helps you understand the audience better: AI is like adding salt to the food we have with the help of the internet. We are doing just fine without AI, but we can be so much better with it in our lives.
User experience: You can use AI data to provide your audience with what they need. Consumers can talk, the text gets exactly what they want, and purchase in minutes, assuring profits and growth for the business.
Increases your ROI: All of the points add up to this one. More profits for the company for them to serve the next set of customers even better.
Customer Service: We, the generation of instant gratification, cannot find it more annoying to call customer service and wait an extended period for them to connect us to the right person. We would rather lose dollars than wait 30 minutes. At least I have in the past. Now, we have AI, with fast growth, being able to get back to you in under 30 seconds!
Enhanced Shopping experience: AI holds the potential in the way we shop. Instead of browsing images of products with augmented reality, people can actually “try” products before they buy them.
Better Advertising: Artificial intelligence collects user data, analyzes it, and predicts future behavior. With this information, brands can target ads according to the user’s preferences.
Drawbacks & final words
Let’s talk about it, the first line we have learned to think at the mention of AI.
AI taking over human jobs: I see it that AI cannot function by itself. It needs a human to analyze have an emotional connection, empathize and understand market conditions programmed continuously to be useful.
Like I started this blog, we shouldn’t be afraid of change. It is only scary when we don’t understand it enough to use it in the best way to make our lives easier.
Whether it is a big step the entire world has to take in the development and use of AI or whether it is having you simply having to cook a meal that you have never done before, all we need to remember is to take one step at a time and find out how we can make the best use of the resources we have.
We are a generation that has transformed, grown, adapted, and molded-in so many ways that all we need is to embrace what the world comes up with such as AI.
I hope to leave you inspired and looking forward to the future.
Until next time,
Supraja
