The coronavirus has stirred an unprecedented situation up to the society right now. The moment the U.S is suffering from the horrible pandemic, we are likely going to face a potential economic recession in the next few weeks simultaneously. In this case, I’m wondering how the prominent cosmetics company, M.A.C, reacts to this intractable issue.

A note from M.A.C — Let’s Stay Together

M.A.C posts a heart-warming note regarding the pandemic on their website. Yes, let’s stay together. Since every consumer is living in the risk of contracting the coronavirus at this moment, the brand has to stand out and provide the service they can to serve their clients. Although little can cosmetics company do at this point, a caring note to their consumers is essential to show that they are aware of the situation and they are try their best to help.

Enhanced Virtual Try-On Feature

Since free-standing M.A.C stores are temporarily close right now, M.A.C has enhanced its virtual try-on feature on their website. Consumers can choose to apply different shades and colors of the cosmetics to their faces or pick a model to see the on either desktops or smartphones. It’s a very suitable and useful function as everyone prefer to stay at home now.

M.A.C also offers the service of chatting with a real makeup artist on the website to stand by for anything their clients need.

What I Thought From Marketing Perspectives

A crisis can be an opportunity. M.A.C really does find some brilliant methods to connect with their consumers. They update their website in time to note their consumers and make perfect changes considering the pandemic. All the changes are made to be customer-centric, and thus not only enhance the relationship among the community but also their reputation.

During this tough time, we cannot deny that the technology has changed consumer behavior gradually but significantly. M.A.C takes advantage of social media and virtual try-on feature so that costumers no longer need to be in real-stores to get know about the products. They now being more active on both the website and social media in order to interact with every costumer who need help. As a result, the impression and the reputation they built deeply rooted in my mind now.

Start to M.A.C your day now!
