Meet the Blogger: Christine, RN
What happens when you combine a nurse with five years of experience and a new found interest in digital marketing? Your end result: Christine — A current registered nurse in NYC.
There’s Nursing… Then there’s Nursing Informatics
When it comes to nursing, I feel like I have done it all. Emergency Room, Pre-operative/Post Anesthesia, Pediatrics, and Operating Room — just to name a few. But beyond the bedside manner, the unyielding duty to the patient, and the orchestration of a multidisciplinary nursing care plan lies a small niche called Nursing Informatics. According to the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Nursing Informatics is a nursing specialty that is a healthy fusion of nursing science, data information, and the integration of healthcare technology. Nursing Informatics has caught my eye since my undergraduate days and now as I embark my second year in my master’s degree program, Nursing Informatics is important as ever. Have you ever had a telemedicine visit over the past few months or checked your lab results through an online patient portal? Well, nurse informaticists are integral members of the teams that design this technology!
So Why is a Nurse Interested in Digital Marketing?
Digital Marketing first piqued my interest about a year ago when I decided I was going to finally take blogging seriously. I initially started blogging in my late teens as I was preparing to go to nursing school. Long story short, nursing school was no joke and I had to forgo my blogging hobby. Fast forward 10 years later and I am back in the blogging game. But this also meant I had to learn the new rules of marketing (*ba dum tsh*) to make sure my blog was discoverable, targeted, and provided value to the right audience. Enter digital marketing.
Blogging is fun and is a great creative outlet for me after a whole day of nonsensical healthcare jargon, evidence based research, and objective physical assessments. I enjoy using my blogging voice to share valuable content that I found helpful and might be of interest to you. Through this platform, I hope to explore and learn about digital marketing trends as they emerge and phase out, useful marketing tools right now, and what the future of marketing looks like.
I’m excited to take you on this journey with me as I gain a new notch on my belt. Are you a blogger or are interested in blogging? What are some challenges you face or challenges that are preventing you from starting? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Feel free to leave a comment down below!
