New Bloggers Anxiety? Or…Just Me?

Hello and welcome to my very first (and certainly not my last) blog post! I’d be lying if I were to say that I feel totally, 100%, comfortable with my blogging abilities at this time. However, that’s what the Integrated Marketing program at NYU is here for, pushing us out of our creative comfort zones, right? So, before I decide to give up and join BAA (Bloggers Anxiety Anonymous), I’ll give it a try — here goes!

I guess Step 1 in curating my first blog post would be to introduce myself, and a little bit about my background. Originally a ‘Jersey Girl’, at the age of 12, my parents decided to uproot my 3 siblings and I all the way across the Atlantic to live in London. Yes, it was quite the culture shock at first, but nonetheless, one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I had the privilege of calling London my teenage stomping ground until I was 18 years old, then relocated to Florida for college. I spent 6 great years in South Florida, where I got my Bachelors degree, along with an MBA immediately after.

Then, New York City. It’s been an incredible learning experience working and living here for the past 5 years. I guess I can say that I’ve had the quintessential “NYC in your 20's” experience — terrible bosses, some great and some not so great friendships, a few Fashion Weeks here and there, etc etc. However, it has also challenged me in ways I will be forever grateful for. It has given me the backbone that I always needed, and I certainly do believe in that one phrase, “if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere.” My career thus far has included work in several industries including PR, ad sales, event management, and real estate. So, there I am in a nutshell. With all of that said, I am excited for the next step, and to see where this Integrated Marketing program will lead me.

As for this blog going forward, I will be touching on all things marketing. In particular, I will be posting about digital marketing, and how it continues to change the way that we use and understand marketing today. Looking forward to sharing my thoughts with you all, thanks for stopping by!
