New Live Feature Now On Instagram

Instagram, a social networking service, announced a new feature called Live Scheduling. This added option allows users to set up a live broadcast ahead and notify the followers. This feature is not new and other social media services in America. Youtube also allows Youtubers to set up a time for their next content release. However, I personally believe that this feature on Instagram would have a new market.

In my opinion, compared to other social media platforms, the environment on Instagram is more chill and relaxed. People post more about food, landscape, art, fashion, etc. WIth its shopping category and new feature, it is a great opportunity to schedule live for campaign and other marketing activities.

In China, social media platforms will invite stars or influencers and collerbatre with certain brands to sell their products such as food, cosmetics, fashions. Sometimes it is limited during the events but more often it is common products with lower prices. Believe it or not it has become a mature field with professional team training and strategy planning. And many people in China are obsessed with this type of shopping. For instance, if they are selling food(normally like snack, instant food), the influencer will have it handy and introduce it. Then he/she will open the package, present the food inside and taste it. Here comes the final step which customers can buy directly from the link that is provided. And we move on to the next product. Usually the influencer or who is in front of the camera will share the thought or feedback of tasting in some entertaining way to hyped up and I think that is the key why many people will buy it because they might be his/her followers. How well this person presents directly impacts the sales.

I know the culture and entertainment circle in America is quite different, but I think selling products on streaming is a possible channel to catch the eyeball. Streaming brings more traffic for the platform and direct interaction. It is efficient in a short period of time while it gives customers less time to consider.
