Well, with the development of science and technology, big data has become an indispensable topic for people to discuss. So, Let’s define it first, what is big data? and what impact does it have on our work life?

Put simply, big data is larger, more complex data sets, especially from new data sources. These data sets are so voluminous that traditional data processing software just can’t manage them. But these massive volumes of data can be used to address business problems you wouldn’t have been able to tackle before. The importance of big data doesn’t revolve around how much data you have, but what you do with it. You can take data from any sources and analyze it to find any answers what you want.

Although people are still arguing whether big data does more harm than good to our life or whether it does better than harm, it is undeniable that big data does have advantages in marketing field. Here, I put five major ways as a info graph to show how big data can be use in marketing filed. Let’s take a look at it.

Indeed, big data has many shortcomings, such as targeting based on vulnerability, misuse of personal information and data privacy problem. But I believe that with the progress of science and technology, these loopholes and problems will be improved and solved.

I still believe that as a marketer, we should maximize the use of big data to better serve customers, because only by understanding what is the real needs and wants of customers, then we can accurately make products needed by customers, so as to better serve customers and meet their needs.
