Pink as a manifestation of the unconscious and a liberation from the need for realism. The pink-out is an experimental yet deeply human gesture that enhances individuality, capturing values and feelings. The shade of pink by Pierpaolo Piccioli, for which Valentino is collaborating with Pantone Color Institute to create a unique identity, is individual and unrepeatable in itself.

According to Google Trend data, searches for “barbiecore” spiked in June and is projected to continue to rise in through July. Valentino leveraged diverse social media platforms and traditional marketing tools to increase the public awareness by telling stories to connect the brand to its audience.

Celebrities dolled up with Valentino Barbie Pink looks in runway, reality shows and other public occasions. Valentino barbiecore trend seems like a fashion renaissance against old-school summer looks such as nautical-stripe tops and linen pants. On the contrary, Valentino’s barbiecore trend subverts conservative summer outfits and brings powerful, girlish, eye-catching, and exquisite trend of fashion.

In Valentino’s video advertising campaign, Zendaya, as the brand embassor, dresses up in all-pink looks and finds herself in the vibrant, monochromatic world of Valentino Pink PP.

Valentino’s ALL-Pink Fascination is Resurfaced by the Imminent Release of Barbie Movie.

The popularity of Valentino’s barbiecore aesthetic is also boosted by the upcoming Barbie movie, directed by Greta Gerwig. Margot Robbie, who stars as Barbie, wore a custom-made hot pink and white halter-neck minidress by Valentino. A real-life Barbie wearing Valentino barbiecore dress, what a fascinating way of marketing it is to resurface the trend of barbiecore aesthetics and connect it to Valentino.

Valentino builds a romantic and powerful dream of pink for female customers. Barbie is not a made-for-kid toy, but it fits for all ages. The pink barbie story perfectly aligns Valentino’s brand value and its products. The first impression to Valentino from many customers is its exquisite dresses that princesses would wear. However, nowadays, a real princess can be talented, brave and powerful. A princess can be a stunning individuality, and not necessary to wait for the protection from a prince. Valentino takes advantages of such a girlish but striking color, Pink PP, being the only color for its clothes to deliver an emotional value that females can live like barbies with a powerful mind.

The storytelling across different advertising platforms pulls me in. Initially, It is hard to persuade people including me dressing in all pink, I believe. Therefore, Valentino setup installation arts at its boutiques worldwide to display Pink PP color immensely in order to obtain more publicity and acceptance. Meanwhile, celebrity endorsements are invested to increase online exposures, and more importantly, Valentino new products can be visually show to the public along with the delivery of barbiecore values and feelings. Customers adapt to the new color and the essence of Barbie as trust is built while Valentino hosts more marketing events, more celebrities are showing their confidence and beauty in the Barbie pink Valentino outfits.

The storytelling marketing draws me in as the process is gradually incremental and very persuasive. At the same time, I would like to share the marketing contents to my acquaintances, especially those on Instagram and TikTok. Valentino official account and influencers all generate high-quality contents and some styling ideas are very inspirational to borrow for my personal everyday outfits.
