Wait, There is a Neiman Marcus app?
If you have been to the Vessel in NYC, you must saw the huge Neiman Marcus Logo in the shopping mall. It was a smart way for them to build brand awareness, especially in young people and tourists.
Unfortunately, Neiman Marcus, a Symbol of Luxury, the high-end retailer is not liquidating and expects to emerge from restructuring later this year. (NYTimes.com)
While being sad for this Taxes based luxury retailer, I also realized that there is a Neiman Marcus app that I never heard. I have been shopping in their store in the Roosevelt Mall in Long Island NY a couple of times. They usually gave me a discount just by signing up for my email.
by researching this application, I found that Neiman Marcus actually spent a lot of money and attention on it. The interesting point of the app is that it allows you to keep a record of your try-on clothes in the fitting room and review it on your phone. in this way, people are able to have more time making buying decisions. and easier to share them on social media platforms to get more influencers. I found it could be very useful because in most cases, friends will encourage others to buy whatever they tried-on.
Shopping through the mobile app is the purpose of all applications of these retailers. The Neiman Marcus app definitely serves this purpose. it is easy to navigate all different categories of the things the retailer sells. And the design is very Neiman Marcus just like their website. Black and white is the major color.
For customers, the major reason to download this app is the coupons. Not only providing coupons to customers, Neiman Marcus also gave customers who use the app free gifts just like Sephora.
Another good point Neiman Marcus made with this app is the gift opinion cards. It allows customers to get more gift ideas by swiping those cards which solved a problem most people faced when picking a gift for others. For people who rely on this function a lot, it is easier to build brand loyalty.
There is not a QR code scan in the app to get discount and clothes information which is something they should enhance in the future and their application is on Apple platform only at this time. According to research, apple users like to shop more on their phones. (Sephora case).
It is a pleasure to use the Neiman Marcus app because they have a lot of stuff on sale at this point. And I hope they will be better after this crisis which allows me to use the app in the actual store. Because in my opinion, the mobile app should be the thing to enhance shopping experience either in-store or out.
