A long time ago, most marketing strategies are simple and without considering customer’s personal information carefully. Brands cannot know customers’ preferences accurately. However, nowadays, marketers are all looking for new ways to find and attract their ideal audience. And the most popular way is Artificial Intelligence.

What is artificial intelligence marketing?
Artificial intelligence marketing (AI Marketing) is a method of leveraging customer data and AI concepts like machine learning to anticipate your customer’s next move and improve the customer journey.

China has developed so fast in the digital marketing landscape such as store digital transformation, e-commerce giant Alibaba opened a physical “FashionAI” store, and so on. Let’s take a look at this video first.

As the video mentioned, the traditional local convenience stores in China using AI techniques such as consumer analytics, predictive analytics, product recommendation engine to fulfill the digital transformation. Human ability is limited. Attracting ideal audiences requires a variety of information, placing the social media ads on the right platform, or making product recommendations based on consumers’ past choices. All of these need a lot of time to analyze and this ability is totally beyond human ability. So, we need AI to save worker costs and time costs. In addition, this video also talked about that Alibaba introduced a physical “FashionAI” store with the goal of using Artificial Intelligence to increase the shopping experience. The store is equipped with intelligent visual shelves and smart mirrors that display clothing information and suggest coordinating items.

With the help of Artificial Intelligence, personalized marketing on a large scale become possible. Furthermore, AI lets the customer service process become more efficient. But is that mean AI can totally take over human beings? The answer is No. AI cannot run itself without human input. In fact, AI’s outperform is based on human oversight to make sure it works correctly. Like its name, AI just duplicates human ideas and then uses computer algorithms to ideally improve human intelligence. In the context of marketing, this can be understood as marketers using computers and algorithms to better understand consumers. And then consumers will continue to be attracted by the brand’s unique service. I think this is what AI really means for marketing.
