What do Olipop and Hailey Bieber have in common?

Scrolling through my phone, there’s a new trend every day. Some are memorable, while some are not. Some trends are here to stay, while others are just relevant for a day. What makes a trend stay relevant? It’s all about interaction and how a brand associates it’s content with a trend.

The Hailey Bieber Smoothie

I woke up one day and the Hailey Bieber Smoothie found at Erewhon was found ALL over my social media. When Hailey Bieber launched her new skincare line, she also launched a smoothie at Erewhon for $17 that is good for your skin! The smoothie went VIRAL and everyone was talking about how much they wanted to try the smoothie, while others made the smoothie at home and posted videos about the process. This was a trend that was here to stay, but what does this have to do with Olipop?

Olipop comes in at the right time

As Olipop was aware of this launch, they decided to take advanatge of the oppurutnity and launched their own remix with the Hailey Bieber Smoothie found at Erewhon. On their instagram, they posted a video with the Hailey Bieber Smoothie filled halfway in a cup, and poured their “Strawberry Vanilla” Olipop flavor to the top of the cup. This was called the Hailey Bieber Smoothie remix! Many followers left positive comments on the video, some stating, “Genius.” “This is major” “Yumm” “Me drinking it right now!” “Omg I wish I could get this” and more!

Success for Olipop!

Olipop has done a great job on posting interactive content for their audience, that is up to date with current trends. This has helped their marketing objectives because it allows consumers to purchase more Olipop drinks, as they want to try the popular drink at Erewhon to stay up to date with trends. I believe this trend will be here to stay as majority of people have left positive reviews about the Erewhon smoothie and are now able to make the smoothie at home.
