A little about me

I am a graduate student majoring in integrated marketing at NYU. Before I chose digital marketing, I didn’t know much about the operation and management of digital marketing, the only thing I knew was that I saw a lot of advertisements on various platforms every day. So as a beginner, what do we hope to learn from digital marketing?

Benefits of digital marketing

The first advantage of digital marketing is that you have to watch a few seconds of tiktok ads and youtub ads whether you like it or not. At the same time, due to the popularity of the Internet and the development of technology, personal privacy has become a major issue in the new media era. Nowadays, personalized advertising has emerged in an endless stream. This makes the audience more interested in the pop-up ads and choose to watch the entire ad. Then your interest in that brand or product will greatly increase, and the purpose of the ad will also be achieved.

The second advantage of the digital market is that advertisements can leave a deeper impression on the audience through video, sound, images, and plot, and can make you think of the product when you see similar scenes in your life. This is something that traditional advertising cannot match.

The third advantage of the digital market is that it is cheap. At the famous 2018–2019 Upfronts, advertisers paid an average CPM of $17.50 for cable TV advertising. At the same time, in the first quarter of 2018, the average CPM for Google’s display advertising network was $2.80, and marketers can more accurately measure the impact of advertising.

Future of the Digital Marketing

In today’s new media era, 62.3% of the world’s population uses social media. On average, they spend 2 hours and 23 minutes a day using it. This phenomenon shows that in terms of marketing, the digital market has slowly begun to cover traditional marketing methods. How many advertisements do you see on the Internet every day? This phenomenon will continue to increase over time. And with the development of technology, the digital market will become more personalized, more cost-effective, and more interactive with the audience in the future. This is why I chose this course.

What do I hope to learn?

I hope to learn how to make more creative advertisements and the specific steps of making digital advertisements in this class. At the same time, I hope to gain some new ideas and creativity through cooperation with my classmates.
