Big data refers to massive datasets comprising structured, unstructured, and semi-structured information that companies collect at a fast rate when they need it. This characteristic makes big data useful in predictive modeling, machine learning projects, and other innovative analytics applications once firms mine it. Big data enables firms to combine and analyze industry information to amalgamate and corporations to identify novel development opportunities (Youssra and Sara 524). These companies quickly access data concerning consumer preferences, buyers and suppliers, and services and products for analysis, which allows them to make decisions regarding production and distribution through the patterns they identify. Figure 1 below represents the 3Vs involved in big data.

Big data is useful in various sectors, including healthcare, finance, conservation, and the economy. It enables banks to perform their credit scores for customers using information such as investment, credit cards, savings, and mortgages instead of relying on third parties. The commodity Hadoop helps companies, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and e-bay, to move to low-cost servers (Youssra and Sara 526). Big data allows the merging of information, which is ecological. Healthcare providers use big data to access new threads of knowledge that helps them to understand complex medical problems. These features are making multiple sectors to operate effectively, which promotes development.

Nonetheless, big data has some disadvantages that make it difficult to use. Firstly, it fails to provide appropriate data processing solutions for useful process management data integration and offer suitable analysis tools (Almeida 13). Secondly, all departments in a company that uses big data must adjust accommodate the new changes, which can be costly (Almeida 13). Therefore, big data has some issues that make it challenging to implement.
