“Without big data analytics, companies are blind and deaf, wandering out onto the web like deer on a freeway.” — By Geoffrey Moore

What’s good about big data and/or AI?

In my opinion, I have always maintained an attitude of appreciation for big data. Because I think the era of big data has really changed my life. Data is not just numbers. Text, images, sounds, etc. can all be regarded as data. The business model has also become different due to the development of big data. For example, loans. Originally, loans required tedious background checks, but now, all data is integrated. Google uses people’s search records to mine the secondary use value of data. These are big data. When the era of big data has arrived, it is necessary to use big data thinking to explore the potential value of big data.

Big data:

  1. Cost optimization.
  2. Big data tools can greatly improve operational efficiency.
  3. Innovate.

For AI, Artificial intelligence is one of the three cutting-edge international skills in the 21st century. It has played an irreplaceable role in social production. In my opinion, artificial intelligence can be understood in two parts: “artificial” and “intelligence”. Labor is the homework that some humans can do, and humans complete the activities. Intelligence should be intellect and ability. With AI, I think we humans can make continuous progress and make improvements through the problems reflected by AI. But I think the field of AI development is relatively limited. The first is that I think the computer is stupid, humans are smart. The second artificial intelligence system has not yet established a sufficiently complete business logic processing system.

AI:

  1. Reduction in Human Error.
  2. Available 24x7
  3. Helping in Repetitive Jobs

What’s not about big data and/or AI?

Big data:

  1. Privacy and Security Issue
  2. Difficulty integrating legacy systems

AI:

  1. High Cost
  2. Doesn’t improve with experience

To sum up, big data and AI have become powerful tools for enterprises. The biggest advantage of big data is that it brings new possibilities to organizations. Although we have witnessed the proven benefits of big data so far, it still needs to be explored. AI has huge potential advantages, but if AI is used incorrectly, human civilization will be threatened. The key for humans will ensure the “rise of the robots” doesn’t get out of hand.

See you next week!
