The most discussed word these days, apart from chatgpt, would be metaverse. As a rookie in this area, I was never sure of the exact concept, so I found an article explaining the concept in great detail and took the opportunity to share it with you.

What is the Metaverse?

Metaverse is using a computer to access a 3D virtual world where billions of people live, work, shop, learn, and interact with each other.

History of household term Metaverse

“Metaverse” became a household word when Facebook rebranded its corporate identity to Meta in October 2021 and announced plans to invest at least $10 billion in the concept that year. In addition to Meta, tech giants including Google, Microsoft, Nvidia and Qualcomm are also investing billions of dollars in the concept. Future of Metaverse

Although there are still way more barriers needed to overcome for Metaverse, the future of it still going to be impressive. Management consultancy McKinsey & Company has bullishly predicted that the metaverse economy could reach $5 trillion by 2030.

Two main keys to enter Metaverse

AR and VR. Although it is too early to confirm AR and VR are the keys to access Metaverse, currently, companies like Meta, Microsoft, and Epic Games are investing in those two techs.

Uncertain future

Based on what this passage shows, the first thing that comes to my mind is uncertainty. Metaverse seems like an inevitable step of human development. You will never know the actual advantages and disadvantages of a new revolution until it is published. Just like the ChatGPT, I feel like the world now is stepping into a new stage, AI, Metaverse is gradually becoming the main theme. The only thing that is certain is that along with technological innovation, a great deal of opportunity will be forthcoming. It is crucial for companies to seize this opportunity to keep up with the trends. Just like Motorola and Nokia, they failed because they did not keep up with technological innovation.
