Airbnb Chaos: Are they safe?

Let’s talk about Airbnb. It seems like they have more problems with every year that the organization exists. Recently in the news, it was announced that 5 people were killed at an Airbnb party house over the weekend.

It didn’t take long for Airbnb President, Brian Chesky, to respond with how Airbnb is handling the situation.

A few questions come to mind when I read his tweets. Though I appreciate the responsiveness, does this mean that Airbnb has always known about the “party houses”? If so, why did it take until this tragedy for them to address the situation? How will this impact the way the organization responds in the future?

Personally, I have used Airbnb before without too much of an issue but there have been many things in the news about issues that others have encountered using the app and its services? It’s almost to the point where I want to stop using them out of safety. True an incident like this could happen anywhere and to anyone but the precautions the brand is launching don’t really seem like they will be too effective.

True the only thing that we can do is sit back and wait to see if the changes they are implementing does anything regarding the safety of renting the houses, but in the meantime, for any vacations I will be planning, Airbnb will no longer be the first app I look at.
