A couple of months ago, I realized that the time has finally come to install shades in all the bedrooms in my house. The temporary paper shades were just not doing the job any more. After leaving the windows wide open in the rain and snow, it left the paper shades shriveled up and soggy. Having six grandchildren who constantly visit, might explain why they are teared and taped back together. So the time has come, that I finally decided that my house was due for a long needed facelift. I took a trip to Lowe’s,and the employees were extremely helpful and honest.

I told them, I am not looking for anything fancy, just simple shades to cover my windows. I asked to see the most basic options, and I had already set my mind that I will be spending the least possible amount. I knew it will cost me plenty covering twelve large windows, and I just wanted to spend the least possible amount. They told me that the brand Levolor will give me the most value in my price range.

With in three minutes, the woman who helped me; Sandy, had convinced me otherwise. She showed me that if I spend an additional amount, the slats in the shades are structered closer together and have smaller holes for the strings. This allows the shades to create a “blackout” effect. Although a seemingly small detail, this more costly option has proven to be a game changer. Sandy told me “just wait and see how you sleep after just one night after installing your Levolor blinds”

Oh boy, was Sandy right. That first morning when I woke up from a deep sleep, I had no clue what time or day it was. As I looked at my clock and realized I had overslept by two hours. What a difference purchasing the “blackout” option has made to my sleep. Not only is this something I am able to enjoy and benefit, but the guests who come to my house have been saying the room darkness reminds them of a hotel.

As much as I believe my mind is made up upon entering a store, there are always employees like Sandy, who have your best interest in mind, and somehow can convince you that you deserve a little more than what you came looking for.
