Life is a journey without looking back.

A semester is coming to an end, and I still think marketing is one of the magical professions. It is closely related to our lives, ranging from pepper, sugar, oil and salt, to international politics.

Idea is the core and implementation is the guarantee. From traditional advertising to creative hot stores, brand crossovers, IP co-branding, etc., no one can assert and predict the development and change trends of marketing themes in the next stage.

The situation is changing rapidly. It requires us to keep up with novelty hotspots, gain insight into the hearts of the people, and have a little reserve of knowledge in all aspects. At the same time, it also allows us to explore professional knowledge in various fields in the process of implementing various projects. It is a job full of unknowns and adventures.

However, after systematic study and classic case appreciation, I have become more and more aware that marketing does not have a universal formula to deal with all situations.

Whether it is Party A or Party B or the media, everyone is keeping up with the trend of the times and making innovative responses. New and exotic products are emerging in endlessly, creative solutions are becoming more and more unconstrained, media channels are diverse, and innovation is always the first productive force of this industry.

In addition, I also have many new perspectives on marketing. Regarding professional knowledge, social development, life, and future directions, the following points have benefited me the most.

  1. Customers are the purpose and cornerstone of all marketing. What is the ultimate purpose of a for-profit company holding marketing activities? Retain old customers, acquire new customers, and make a profit. What is the ultimate goal of non-profit companies holding marketing activities? Let more people understand a certain value, take action and participate in it. Finally, all the directions of marketing have reached people. Therefore, understanding customer needs and solving customer pain points are of vital importance to marketers and also essential to the development of enterprises.
  2. LESS IS MORE. The era of big data brought about by technological development has undoubtedly completely changed our way of life. People’s life pace is becoming faster and faster. All digital marketing goals seem to be toward ‘making customers’ lives easier and more convenient’. No one wants to waste time. Therefore, “keep it simple” is undoubtedly a crucial thing when talking with customers, partners, and marketers.
  3. Do what you love, and love what you do. Love will make everything easy and happy. Malcolm Gladwell said that 10,000 hours of training is a necessary condition for anyone to transform from ordinary into a world-class master. The same is true for passion.
  4. Before changing the world, we should first understand this real-time world. I think it is a very valuable and enlightening habit for marketers to read a few news that happened in the digital marketing world every week. The current world is changing and developing. Once we can’t keep up with its evolution, we will be left behind by the trend of the times. When competitors have foreseen the next changes in the market, we need to follow up the world’s progress faster in a timely manner, and update our information and databases. Marketing is not only a job that changes the world, but also a job that understands oneself, the world, and human beings. It is essentially like a combination of science and art. It not only uses rational data to analyze and predict the future, but also uses touching humanistic symbols to impress the target audience.
  5. Never be afraid of failure. Failure is the most precious experience. Only through the bottom of the valley can you truly appreciate the scenery of the peak. The flavor of success experienced by a person who has never failed is different from the success experienced by a person who has been failing. Try more, and see more about different aspects of the world, which can make great difference.

Finally, I think no one wants to encounter difficulties and obstacles in their careers, but unchanging work without challenges is undoubtedly boring and worthless. Once human beings become accustomed to mediocrity and unchanging, creativity will gradually disappear as we age. In my opinion, every marketer is both an artist and a scientist. Creativity brings an emotional storm, and powerful changes in technology and data have also contributed to rational decisions.

In my future career, what I am most looking forward to is to produce a brand planning solution that combines product and efficiency. While realizing creative value, it can also adhere to the brand and products, meet consumer insight, and create value for the brand.

Today’s world is in a state of instability caused by the pandemic. Since the world is not static, we should be ready to accept new challenges at any time.

Keep enthusiastic, keep going, don’t settle.
