Kylie Jenner has a reputation from some as being a billionaire airhead who’s fake in every sense of the word. Her recent swimwear line experienced a social media disaster as critics slammed her for creating a poor line in every sense. The new line came out on September 17 and has swimsuits that are priced mostly at $80 per piece, not a cheap price. Immediately after the line was put out it received a lot of criticism for its revealing fit. The designs include “sarongs, cutout one-pieces, triangle bikinis… in bright hues like yellow and orange-and-pink ombré and revealing silhouettes”.

No one really expected anything more covering from the Jenners but the “1.5 inches of coverage on the crotch area — it became evident to many that the designs were tailored to a small and very specific body type”. Many women feel offended when products are put out like this with the expectation that they can look good in this.

“Kylie designed these for HER body. Not the average woman. There’s no way I or anyone I know could fit into these without something slipping out.”

In addition to the revealing nature of the products, there were many other issues that arose on social media. People were calling the line “horrendous” and “cheap”. Users were disappointed with the quality of the swimsuits and claimed that they were made in a sloppy manner. @briannaxrenee posted a video of herself showing the sloppy seam that got 15 million TikTok views.

People were equally angry about the fact that the pieces were completely see threw and that you can see the tag through the clothing. “The Kylie tag being see-through is such an obnoxious eye-roller. Kylie and the whole company is ridiculous,”

Not only were people posting about the product itself but this lead many to call Kylie a bad business owner with a strong lack of integrity. They expected a billionaire to put more money into her products as opposed to cheaping out on manufacturing costs. If kylie doesn’t cheap out on herself then why is she cheaping out on her customers?

When it comes to poor quality fabric, unattainable body images, and dishonest business social media users won’t stand for it. This social media scandal brought the wrong kind of attention to the attention-seeking Kylie Jenner.
