Creating to-do lists can be troublesome and difficult to manage, especially when you do not have the right tools to do so. You would need a tool to organize and keep track of all your task’s current status so you can have a big picture of your current performance at a particular time. If you got a team to manage a certain project, you would definitely need something to plan things properly to prevent any confusion.

In this publication, I will share with you about Trello, one of the Task Management tool I have used for a while to keep track of my current tasks.

What’s in it for you?

Trello allows you to plan your projects and list down your “to-do” list properly. It allows you to create dashboards and organize your tasks, even arranging them according to your priority. The card system Trello provides is essential for team members to collaborate and update their progress in one single location.

1. Features

From the main dashboard, you can create boards and each board can represent a project you are working on. You can get started by creating three types of tasks using different lists and cards: ‘To Do’, ‘Doing’ and ‘Done’ tasks. These tasks can be scheduled as well so you always complete your tasks on time.

Example of Trello Board interface.

Each created board will create a default blue background where it can be customized from the right-hand side of the Board screen, ranging from background colours to background pictures. The card system it provides can be categorized with coloured labels and set due dates. Privacy filters can be toggled between public, private or team only.

Trello also provides Power-Up automation features such as Butler and other integrations with other third-party applications as well. Rules can be created via Butler that automates your favourite actions you perform inside Trello, saves your time in performing repetitive actions on the board.

2. Pricing

The three price tiers for Trello.

3. Setup Guidelines

Getting your account setup in Trello is relatively easy. All you need to get started is to fill in your name, email address and password to create your free account. New users will be redirected to their own default Trello board to get started.

Profile settings such as name, initials, bio, avatar, password, email and language can be changed via your initials at the top-right corner of the screen. Your avatar also can be changed to a photo of your own choice as well.

If you need additional help, the “Support” section is available through your avatar icon. You can get assistance via their help site, online articles, the Trello community or even send them a message. Response within 24 hours is only guaranteed for paid subscribers.

My Final Verdict on this Tool

To me, Trello has a very clean and fresh looking interface. Navigation within Trello is really easy and user-friendly. Solely by the free plan alone, I can utilize Trello easily to organize my projects and ensure progress.

If you commonly work with a lot of teams on different projects, then the premium plans would be better for you and you can utilize their automation features and only prioritize the important tasks.

Trello also has its own mobile apps for iOS and Android, as well as its website and desktop apps (macOS and Windows).
