If you have not known what upsells, downsells or even one-time-offers (OTOs), you probably missed out on a lot of great earning potentials in your business and maximize your cost spending on acquiring a new customer. OTOs are usually used after your customers trust you and made their first purchase. It will be categorized as upsells or downsells depending if the price of that OTO is higher or lower than the core offer you place on your sales page.

Why do you need OTOs?

To accurately explain the reason behind this, it will be better to use an example situation which will be shown below.

Let’s say you are an online marketer selling cereals. Assuming you don’t plan to have any OTOs, you decided to build your landing page to sell your cereals this way.

  1. Opt-in page (Free cereal packets)
  2. Sales Page (Core cereal pack offer) => RM15 per box
  3. Thank you Page

With this funnel setting, you will be earning RM15 for every customer that went through your entire funnel.

Now, let us introduce OTOs into the funnel. Aside from selling just cereals alone, you decided to include some more offer: utensils for them to enjoy their cereals and vitamin supplements. This will be what you have in your funnel.

  1. Opt-in page (Free cereal packets)
  2. Sales Page (Core cereal pack offer) => RM15 per box
  3. OTO #1 Utensils for their cereal => RM35 per set
  4. OTO #2 Vitamin supplements => RM 60 per bottle.
  5. Thank you Page

Instead of earning RM15 for every customer going through your funnel, your customers may be spending up to an additional RM95 in your funnel (assuming they purchased all your OTOs). This increases your sales a lot more and your customers can benefit from this since your OTOs can solve their problem.

Now you know the importance of having OTOs in your funnel. Let us see how to set this up in InstaFunnels.

How To Setup This Feature in InstaFunnels?

In case you have missed the previous tutorial I have created on building a sales funnel, you can read it here. If you want to watch the tutorial video to include the upsell feature, then you can use the link below. Please do note that I am using Stripe as the payment gateway for the funnel. If you are using other payment gateways, then InstaFunnels may not work with those properly unless you understand how to change things manually through hard coding.

Part 4 => Setting up OTOs in your funnel

After you create the upsell page, make sure you have products created in both the main sales page and the upsell page in their respective “Products” section. This is to enable InstaFunnels to correctly linked the products to the right pages and ensure the customer’s transaction went smoothly.

The “Products” section of the funnel.
After clicking the “+” button, complete all the required details and click “Save” to create your product. Make sure to do the same for your new OTO page to link the product to your funnel.

The products you create can either be a one-time purchase or a subscription-based payment, depending on what you want to offer.

After the products are created, create a new page for your OTO. At the payment button, make sure to change it to a “One-Click Upsell/Downsell” button for the funnel to work properly. Select the product for the upsell and set the button to move to the Thank you page when the transaction is completed.

Once you create the button, make sure you convert that button to the right type.

Also, don’t forget to create a text link that allows users to continue even if they don’t want to buy your OTO (shown as “No, I don’t want this. Thank you.” text in the image). Customers deserve the right to accept or deny your OTO depending on their own needs.

Back to the sales page, you will need to create a “2-step order” form. You are free to customize the details in the form to suit the requirements of your offer. Once you are done, ensure the action when the user clicks the payment button must redirect to the OTO page.

This is where you can generate a “2-step order form”, this form should be present on your main Sales page or your Order confirmation page (if you have any).

When you complete all the necessary setup, never forget to test your funnel before launch to ensure everything is working as intended. Regarding the orders, you can always check in the “Sales” section of your funnel.

This is where you view all your sales data in your funnel.

This page allows you to track what products or services people buy from you. You can also download these data as a .csv file to keep for your own records.

Conclusion

I hope this tutorial can help you quickly get started to integrate your upsell features inside InstaFunnels. If you don’t have your InstaFunnels account, you can get your account created right here and experience it yourself!
