For seven years, the Bentonville Film Festival (BFF) — co-founded by Academy Award® winner Geena Davis — has worked to influence mainstream media to increase diversity and raise up underrepresented voices in filmmaking. The 55 films that were included in this year’s juried competition are a testimony to the festival’s mission. Since the festival’s inception in 2015, Mars Wrigley has worked alongside BFF to showcase diverse voices in filmmaking and foster important conversations with corporate leaders and festival partners. In 2019, we joined the inaugural BFF Diversity and Inclusion Council and each year we strive to bring better moments and more smiles through purposeful moments that help people connect, celebrate and care for one another.

In partnership with BFF, we’re tackling the biggest barrier in filmmaking for women and minorities — the second film hurdle. We’re proud to announce a new mentorship opportunity that includes a $20,000 grant and hands-on experience supporting our largest global brand M&M’S. All BFF creators, past and present, will be invited to apply for this unique opportunity. One of our Five Principles at Mars is mutuality. With this opportunity, we hope to create a valuable and mutual way for BFF alumni to grow their experience with a global brand and provide Mars Wrigley with the opportunity to partner with a creative mind that is already paving the way for change.

Just like BFF, our brands are on a journey to bring inclusivity and diversity to life through meaningful action. Through #HereToBeHeard, a global crowdsourcing campaign that elevates the voices of women to shape a more inclusive business environment — we are taking steps to ensure our Associates are valued, respected, and encouraged to be their unique selves. We’re making positive change inside our own business and are excited to continue expanding our support outside the halls and walls of Mars Wrigley.
