You won’t see Russians or transgender people at the 2024 Olympic Games
But you will see Israel, Afghanistan, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran and several other countries with human rights issues.
In fact the only way to not be invited to the Olympics is to be trans* or invade Ukraine.
As I have said many times before, I grew up white in Apartheid South Africa, but I am not an apartheid victim. In fact you could say I was a bit of a “fellow traveler” at worst and a benefactor at best.
I was not old enough to take part in the pre-liberation elections or politics, but I did attend school and exist in a society that privileged me greatly based on my skin color.
For those of you who don’t know, apartheid was, “separate but equal” imposed legislatively as a social order. Where black and white people were separate across an entire country and at all levels of society, but not equal. Separate hospitals, education systems, neighborhoods, career paths, transportation systems even life expectancy.
….and black people didn’t get equal anything, they got arrested, shot, hanged and impoverished.
It was a Torie/Republican politician’s dream come true.
We went a little overboard with racism in South Africa is what I am saying.
I first learnt about apartheid when Zola Budd ran for Great Britain in the 1984 olympics. She was well known in South Africa and it was strange to see her running for Great Britain, aka Terf Island.
My parents explained that South Africa was excluded from international participation in sport, culture, some levels of economic activity and weapons purchases due to our political system. So for Zola Budd to compete at the Olympics, she had to do so under the British flag.
The world sanctioned white minority rule in south africa whilst simultaneously funding and aiding resistance movements. South Africa could not take part in international sport and that included the Olympics.
The international community seemed to have had issues with immoral governments.
I say had because that was then, this is now and:
Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Iran execute gay people.
Afghanistan has banned girls from attending school.
UAE prosecutes the lgbtqia community.
North Korea is a despotic dystopia run by a fat fuck with a shitty haircut and nukes.
Oh and let’s not forget Israel.
Israel bottles civilian populations into small enclaves and then bombs them into oblivion in revenge for a heinous terror attack by a small segment of that population.
They are all at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
On a side note, Israel has an interesting tie into the apartheid government in South Africa. They developed nuclear weapons, missiles and other arms with South Africa during apartheid.

This leaves me with a few questions:
What exactly are international bodies saying about trans people?
(That JK Rowling and her black mould are also saying about Algerian cis women)
Are trans people as detestable as an imperialist invasion of a neighboring state by an autocratic regime?
Was the Olympic Opening ceremony not the greatest queer washing event in history? I mean they had a whole lot of queer in that ceremony but the only trap you’ll find at this Olympics is at the skeet venue.

*There are two non binary amab people but they are competing within the women’s categories and have not hormonally transitioned and as such their respective sporting bodies view them as “weird” not transgender.
