‘Martians vs Rednecks’ are rebranding to ‘Martians vs Roughnecks’ as they look to secure more partnerships with Web2 businesses. The team has received minor concerns from a number of potential partners about the term ‘Redneck’, and how it could be perceived negatively. The small switch to ‘Roughneck’ enables the team to continue along the same path in relation to the heart and soul of the artwork and story, while removing any barriers to future business partnerships.

The change comes as a new beer partnership with Rollertown Beerworks, Texas is agreed. The partnership will include an international brewery collaboration between East London Brewing Company, UK and Rollertown — a world first in the web3 space. The MvR ‘Martianhead’ brand will be extended to feature a new bespoke recipe devised by the two breweries. The community will also be offered the opportunity to feed into the creative process.

The second Martianhead beer will be launched in Texas and will be widely distributed throughout the state to more than 200 bars, restaurants and other outlets. This will include the AT&T Stadium and the American Airlines Center, home to the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks respectively.

MvR Founder, Andy Pringle said: ‘The decision to change our name reflects the amazing progress we have made as project so far. We are speaking to big brands about real world opportunities for MvR. There is a clear demand for web2 businesses to transition into the web3 space, and we’re helping to achieve some of these ‘world-first’ moments.’

He added: ‘This latest partnership with Rollertown Beerworks is another big step forwards for the Martianhead brand and helping to make it more widely available across the globe.’

Rollertown Beerworks Head Brewer Tommy Miller said : ‘We are extremely excited to do this collaboration with MvR and East London Brewery Company. I am a massive fan of the team, community, and art. I believe what they are building is a lasting brand and we are honored to be a small part of it. This will also be our first collaboration with a brewery outside of Texas and are super excited to be collaborating with a great brewery like East London Brewery Company.’

He added: ‘The UK holds a special place in my heart as I lived there for 5 years with my now wife and learned much of my brewing knowledge while spending time across the pond. I really look forward to bringing this beer to the market and hope to form a long lasting partnership. Long live the Roughnecks!’

Claire Thomlinson, Director at East London Brewing Co said: ‘We’re excited to be exploring this crazy new space with Martians vs Roughnecks and look forward to a fascinating collaboration both in the metaverse and the real world!’
