The impact of yoga practice on my life

For over a year, I’ve been engaging in independent yoga practice and have also attended yoga classes at NTU. This journey has significantly heightened my self-awareness regarding my body, emotions, and over health. As a result, I’ve gained better control over my physical well-being.

Every time I attempt a new yoga pose, I discover and activate muscle groups that I’ve never engaged before and also the corresponding areas of my brain become activated. As a result, I feel excited and joyful coming as Everything inside me — my brain, my mind and my muscle — just somehow magically harmonizes.

Yoga is also a wonderful practice for those who couldn’t really “take a rest” mind-wise and body-wise, such as me several years ago. My nights used to lack restful sleep due to my brain’s constant engagement (striving to learn, function, and seek stimulation). It didn’t want to clam down at all! However, daily yoga practice has revolutionized my ability to enjoy breaks in my life — whether it’s a leisurely stroll, moments of idleness, or even the act of falling asleep. Learning how to clam myself down is definitely the most important work for me in a world filling with distraction.

Here’s an affirmation that I always tell myself before going into a yoga flow.

It’s OK to give yourself a 15-minute break. It’s a moment of feeling yourself and getting know to yourself more”

I wouldn’t say that practicing yoga could make you healthier, but the raise of self-awareness via yoga practices helps leading to an enhanced quality of life.
I burnout less after practicing yoga for 6 months thanks to a clearer understanding of my emotional limits. I make decision quicker since I know what I like. I’ve learned to relish life’s simple pleasures — feeling the breeze on my cheek, noticing the humidity in the air, and savoring the freshness of verdure on the road. These feeling existed before but I had usually overlooked them

I’d like to share two ongoing thirty-day yoga challenge videos that I engage with daily. Try one of them out and make yoga practice your daily habit now :)
