Arwefjall, Park tied atop leaderboard of Chevron Silverado Showdown

Kajsa Arwefjall of San Jose State had the round of the day, a 6-under-par 66 on Tuesday on the North Course, and is tied for the 36-hole lead heading into the final round of the Chevron Silverado Showdown at Silverado Resort and Spa.

The major college women’s golf tournament, which has a field of 16 teams and 88 players, concludes today at Silverado Resort and Spa, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. It’s a three-day, 54-hole event that is co-hosted by the University of Colorado and University of Oregon.

Arwefjall, a fifth-year player from Hollviken, Sweden, and Southern California’s Catherine Park, a sophomore from Irvine, CA, are tied atop the leaderboard of the Chevron Silverado Showdown, each at 5-under-par 139 through two rounds.

The late-season spring tournament, now in its 10th year, will crown both team and individual champions.

Arwefjall made a huge jump, moving up 24 spots after Monday’s first round and into a tie for the individual lead. Arwefjall, a four-time Mountain West Conference Scholar Athlete and Academic All-Mountain West honoree, is at 73–66–139. Arwefjall was tied for 25th after the first round.

Park, who finished as the NCAA individual runner-up last year as a freshman, followed up a 69 in the first round by shooting a second round 70, and is also at 139.

Park was named All-American Honorable Mention by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association and was also selected First Team Pac-12 All-Conference last year.

Arwefjall’s honors at San Jose State include WGCA Second Team All-America (2022–23), Mountain West Player of the Year (2022–23), First Team All-Mountain West (2022–23), WGCA All-American Scholar (2022–23), First Team All-Mountain West (2021–22), WGCA All-American Scholar (2021–22), First Team All-Mountain West (2021), WGCA All-American Scholar (2020–21), Second Team All-Mountain West (2019–20), and WGCA All-American Scholar (2019–20).

Arwefjall and Park lead by four shots over two players, Lauryn Nguyen of Northwestern University and Hsin Chun Liao of Texas, who are tied for third, at 1-under-par 143.

Nguyen is at 71–72–143. Liao is at 71–72–143.

Carolina Melgrati of Arizona, 72–72–144.
Kyra Ly of Oregon State, 72–72–144.

Lilas Pinthier of Arizona, 70–74–144.

Kaleiya Romero of Pepperdine, 69–75–144.

Raya Nakao of Oregon State, 69–75–144.

Ten players are tied for 11th place at 1-over-par 145.

Southern California leads in the team scoring at 3-under-par after rounds of 282 and 291. USC will take a nine-shot lead into the second round.

In second place is Arizona at 6-over-par.

Northwestern is in third place, 8-over-par.

Pepperdine is in fourth place, 9-over-par.
San Jose State is in fifth place, 13-over-par.

Texas is sixth, 14-over-par.
Tied for seventh is TCU and Oregon, each at 15-over-par.

In ninth place is the University of California, 16-over-par.

Oregon State is 10th at 17-over-par.

Also, in the field is UCLA and Denver, tied for 11th, 18-over-par; Washington, 13th at 19-over-par; University of San Francisco, 14th at 26-over-par; Iowa State, 15th at 27-over-par; and Colorado, 16th at 53-over-par.

Silverado’s North Course is a par-72, 6,146-yard layout.

Eight Pac-12 Conference teams are in the field.

This is the 10th year of the Silverado Showdown, which was founded in 2014.
