Napa Valley football: Bowers named to 2022 PFF College All-America Team

University of Georgia sophomore tight end Brock Bowers, who is from Napa, was named to the 2022 PFF College All-America Team, it was announced on Nov. 29 in a report at www.pff.com.

Bowers was named third team offense.

Bowers among finalists for John Mackey Award

Brock Bowers, a sophomore tight end at the University of Georgia, is among the finalists for the 2022 John Mackey Award, it was announced by the Friends of John Mackey at www.johnmackeyaward.com on Nov. 29.

The John Mackey Award is presented to the best collegiate tight end.

Bowers, who is from Napa, leads Georgia (12–0, 8–0 SEC) with 46 receptions for 645 yards and five touchdowns.

“In addition to his receiving and rushing success, Bowers has been a dominant blocker, helping to allow the Bulldogs to average 203.0 yards on the ground and only seven sacks to quarterback Stetson Bennett, including zero in the last five games,” University of Georgia Athletics reported on Nov. 29 at georgiadogs.com.

Willard throws for 968 yards for Black Hills State

Senior quarterback Aidan Willard of Napa completed the season for Black Hills State University (Spearfish, S.D.) by throwing for 968 yards in five games, completing 69.44 percent of his passes, averaging 193.60 yards per game, with a long completion of 83 yards.

He completed 75 of 108 passes.
The Justin-Siena High graduate and transfer from Oregon State threw nine touchdown passes and had six interceptions.

He also had 88 yards rushing with a long run of 17 yards.

Black Hills State University is an NCAA-Division II member and a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Beers throws for 1,770 yards

Freshman quarterback Hudson Beers completed 160 of 314 passes for 1,770 yards and 10 touchdowns during the 2022 season for Yuba College-Marysville.

Beers, a Justin-Siena High graduate, played in nine games and completed 51 percent of his passes, with a long completion of 87 yards.

He averaged 196.7 yards per game and had 11 interceptions.

2022 CIF Regional Football Championship Bowl Games

The high school football season continues this week with the 2022 CIF Regional Championship Bowl Games, as 53 Section championship teams have advanced in the playoffs, the CIF State announced in a report on Nov. 27 at www.cifstate.org.

This week’s games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 and 3, at various host sites in Northern California and Southern California.

Serra-San Mateo and St. John Bosco-Bellflower have advanced to the CIF State Open Division Championship Bowl Game and will play on Saturday, Dec. 10 at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo.

Winners from NorCal and SoCal Regional games advance to the CIF State Football Championships, representing their respective divisions, the state office reported at www.cifstate.org.

American Canyon High (8–4) is №24 in the North Coast Section Football Rankings, announced by MaxPreps on Nov. 27 at www.maxpreps.com.

De La Salle-Concord (9–3) leads the rankings at №1.
