Napa Valley football: Bowers selected to Associated Press preseason All-America team

Napa’s Brock Bowers, a sophomore tight end for the University of Georgia, was selected to The Associated Press preseason All-America team, it was announced in a report at apnews.com on Aug. 22.

“The AP preseason All-America team presented by Regions Bank was selected by a panel of Top 25 poll voters and released Monday,” the report said.

Bowers (6–4, 230), a Napa High School graduate, is on the first-team offense.

He had an outstanding freshman season for Georgia, leading the team in receiving, with 56 catches for 882 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Bowers on ESPN preseason All-America team

Brock Bowers of the University of Georgia is on the ESPN preseason All-America team, it was announced in a report on Aug. 24 at www.espn.com.

Bowers, a tight end, is on the offense.

In the report, ESPN said:

“There’s no shortage of talented tight ends this season, but the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Bowers gets the nod here. He catches everything thrown his way (to the tune of 13 touchdowns) and is a good runner after the catch. He was one of the best true freshmen in the country last year at any position and should be even better as a sophomore. He also has two ultra-talented teammates at tight end in Arik Gilbert and Darnell Washington.”

Bowers named to Preseason Coaches All-SEC Team

Napa’s Brock Bowers, a sophomore tight end for the University of Georgia, was named to the 2022 Preseason Coaches All-Southeastern Conference Team, it was announced by the league and also by georgiadogs.com on Aug. 23.
Bowers is on the first team.

Great American Rivalry Series

The Great American Rivalry Series will be in Napa for Big Game in October.

The Great American Rivalry Series announced on Twitter, ‪@AmericanRivalry, on Aug. 17, that the Napa-Vintage Big Game on Oct. 28 is on the 2022 season schedule.

“For almost 20 years, we’ve highlighted and brought light to the best high school football rivalries in the country,” Great American Rivalry Series points out on its Twitter page, twitter.com/AmericanRivalry, @AmericanRivalry.

De La Salle-Concord leads the rankings at №1.
