Announcing JIRA Plugin for MSM v2
I am pleased to announce the release of our latest update to the JIRA Plugin for MSM. This is the first plugin that uses our new web API and is available for MSM v14.4. You can download it here.
The JIRA Plugin for MSM v1 allowed users to view, create, link and unlink issues in JIRA from requests in MSM. We wanted to take this a step further and in particular, to remove any manual intervention in keeping the issues/requests up to date in both systems. This plugin allows system administrators to set up web hooks within the JIRA platform to perform HTTP requests against the MSM system. These are set up on triggers and can be a variety of different things. For example, when moving a JIRA issue to a status of ‘done’, then we would like the related MSM issue to move to the next status in its workflow. This is done by providing a status name in the HTTP request inside a JIRA webhook. If an MSM request has multiple JIRA issues then they must all be in the same status for the MSM request to proceed to its next state.
Just like the previous version and all our other plugins, this is available on GitHub and we encourage you all to get involved. This can be by raising issues/feature requests, or forking the repository and contributing your changes back.
As I mentioned earlier, this is the first plugin to use our new web API. Based on HTTP, it will provide developers with better opportunities to integrate with MSM. We’re making good progress in development and looking forward to sharing more details with you about this in the coming months.
