This is the 3rd Avengers film within the Avengers franchise and is the first time Thanos is shown as the lead antagonist. In the previous movies he has been hinted at or shown in a post-credit scene, he has also been mentioned in Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 1 as the adoptive father of Gamora, played by Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan as Nebula.

Throughout this film, the Avengers are spread out around earth and on different planets, making the split Avengers each fighting Thanos in different environments. At the start of the film, Thor, Loki and Hulk are the first to encounter and get beat by Thanos and his Black Order, resulting in him getting the space stone, after he destroyed a different planet to get the power stone. He tells his Black Order to go to earth to gather the other infinity stones for him, the mind and time stone are on earth being with half of the avengers while the time stone is being protected by Dr. Strange, portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch.

Hulk is sent to earth by Heimdall (Idris Elba) through the bifrost before he is killed by one of the Black Order or Thanos’s adoptive children. When Banner gets to earth he lands in the home of Dr. Strange and this leads to Strange asking Tony Stark to come with him to talk about Thanos. Later, Strange, Stark and Peter Parker end up in space, more specifically the home of Thanos, on Titan. This causes one the bigger battles happens in space before the final battle in Wakada. However, Infinity War does not end in the way most superhero movies end, with the heroes beating the bad guy, in this case, Thanos does end up with all of the stones and kills half of the population in the universe.
