Stop feeling guilty for not doing anything
We all feel that sense of guilt for not being as productive “as we should be” for not getting things done and achieving all we hoped a certain day. I know I feel that way a lot of the time. I feel that I have to always be productive always have to get things done. The thing is that is impossible you can't always get things done and be productive sometimes you have to let your body rest and just do nothing. You have to have a healthy balance between the two. Your rest or self-care could just be you doing a facemask and having a lie-down. Whatever it is sometimes you just have to take a step back and take a break. Don’t let the feelings of guilt seep in and make you think that always have to be on the go.
I use to feel like that quite a bit. I used to feel that I had to always be productive especially when I was revising; I had to give 110% and having a break could be the difference between a C and A. Sometimes you just need to take a step back and look at things logically. If I am constantly burning myself out and overworking myself I am not going to perform my best. I am going to be burnt out and not be able to give 100% for my exams which is the crucial part. I learnt this lesson the hard way during A-levels. I would constantly burn out from constantly revising and heavy workload. It became so unhealthy to the point that I started myself and my health would deteriorate and that would lead to me being absent from school.
So in the grand scheme of things me burning myself out became super detrimental to my overall well being and it began to affect my work.
You would think this would be common sense and we would all realise that burning yourself and out constantly overloading yourself negatively affects yourself. Stress does a crazy thing to people, you lose a lot of reasoning and judgment when under pressure. So this is a reminder to anyone who feels overburdened and stressed with too many things on their plate. Take a break!
