Today, we’re excited to announce a partnership between Masa and Base Universe. The Base Universe community can now mint .bu soulnames, on Base testnet, to power their reputation and contributions.
Base Universe has risen to become the go-to resource for information and news about the Base Blockchain ecosystem. Since launching early this year, they have built an avid following with their insightful social content detailing all the latest news, ecosystem updates, and on-chain data analytics.
Masa, the leading soulbound token protocol on Base, has partnered with Base Universe to take their community to the next level. We’re excited to unveil the launch of .bu community domain names. The community can now mint their rare and unique .bu domain names, and will be able to use their .bu domains as unique personal identifiers in the Base Universe partner ecosystem. This collaboration will amplify community engagement within Base Universes’ rapidly growing media brand, and build brand loyalty with their followers and partners across the Base ecosystem.
We’ve already seen incredible success and rampant demand for Masa’a .base soulname services, with users having minted 260,000+ .base domains on testnet since April 25, 2023. We can’t wait to witness the impact of .bu soulnames and launch a new soulbound domain service into the base ecosystem.

Mint your .BU Domains
Step 1: Receive FREE Base Goerli Test ETH (you will need it to pay gas for .bu domain mint)
*Please Note* this network can experience long delays due to current demand
- Go to https://faucet.quicknode.com/base/goerli or https://bwarelabs.com/faucets/base-testnet
- Connect your wallet
- Follow the instructions and deposit Base Goerli to your wallet address
Step 2: Connect Your Metamask Wallet to the Base Goerli Testnet
- Visit the Base Universe Dapp and connect your Metamask wallet- baseuniverse.masa.finance
- Click on the dropdown of networks.
- Click on Add Network.
- A new window will pop up.
- Now in the left sidebar click on “Networks”, a new window will appear. There you can see all the available Testnet networks that are available but not visible. If the Goerli Test Network does not appear you can search for the network.
- Add the Goerli Test Network to your wallet
- Go to baseuniverse.masa.finance. When you logon, you will be prompted to Switch Network from Goerli Testnet to Base Goerli Testnet.
Step 3: You will be prompted to mint your .bu domains. All .bu domains on testnet are free, and secure your early access sport for mainnet.
Step 4: Approve the transaction and success, that’s it! Share your freshly minted domains on Twitter.
