Amidst the wide range of emotions and erratic sleep schedules, it’s understandable for new moms to have questions about their own wellness as they adjust to life with baby — especially if they’re also breastfeeding. We set out to craft a tool that provides both companionship and clear wellness insights for new and breastfeeding moms, taking one more worry off mom’s plate.
With the power of Maslo’s AI and the expertise of Lactation Lab, we built Emily, a breastfeeding and wellness companion with moms in mind.
Emily is an app that provides empathetic companionship through personalized prompts, which encourage moms to express and document their physical as well as emotional state via natural voice (or text!) journal entries.

Maslo Empathetic AI Analysis then delivers insights drawn from each journal entry.
Moms can also track breastfeeding and diaper change times, which are then compiled into an exportable format to aid doctors and clinicians in reviewing patient health.
But we’re most excited about Emily’s mastitis testing, because it gives moms a new kind of insight through breast milk analysis — all right at home. Users simply provide a sample of breastmilk on the test strip, and then scan the strip directly within the Emily app. Then, the LDH levels in the sample breastmilk can provide a valuable insight into the wellness of both mom and baby. Emily can even provide suggestions for next steps based on the results, and connect you directly with a lactation consultant as needed. Test strips are now available for all Emily users over at Lactation Lab.
