Much like everything over the last year, the pandemic changed our approach to the MDES Bootcamp. In the Massart Master of Design | Design Innovation (MDes) graduate program each year, we hold an offsite three-day retreat known as “MDes Bootcamp.”

Bootcamp sets the expectations for the Massart Design Innovation Graduate students’ upcoming year. Students work on leadership and supporting roles in developing and proposing solutions to various challenges during this offsite team-building retreat. This year, the Covid global pandemic changed everything for our Bootcamp. Though the hybrid learning experience with both in-person and virtual students in three time zones added a new level of complexity, students stepped up with their problem-solving and professionalism.

In past years through a designer’s lens, we examined everything from the “conference experience” to the implications of legalized marijuana. Students conducted research, analyzing niche areas of expertise and distilling their fields. This year they took on the challenge of examining social media and planning a panel discussion on the future of social media. Please join the Massart Design Innovation Graduate students for Boston Design Week, as they host a conversation with six leaders about social media and its future, Friday, May 7th 6:30 to 8:00 pm Link to Eventbrite: registration
