UX Researchers at Mass Digital
As a UX Researcher, you’ll join the first-ever Digital Service team in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, working in a collaborative environment with product managers, business analysts, content strategists, and front- and back-end developers to help transform the way state government interacts with the public. You’ll work on UX efforts, facilitating user research sessions, analyzing data, and developing product requirements for various projects as well as for the core Mass.gov product.
Responsibilities:
- Develop UX research plans
- Recruit participants for studies.
- Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative research studies.
- Review study results and produce summary results for stakeholders with actionable recommendations
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ experience in relevant roles
- Strong portfolio featuring real-world examples of relevant work
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Design or Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Experience using such research techniques as moderated testing, unmoderated testing, card sorting, one-click tests, comparative design tests, tree tests, user interviews, surveys, heuristic reviews, heat/click map analysis, A/B and multivariate testing, and web analytics
- Experience with user research frameworks, such as journey maps
- A detailed understanding of user-centered design, with rapid prototyping skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize requests, communicate with stakeholders, and meet expected milestones
- Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment, partnering effectively with business and development stakeholders
- Strong interest in public service and the desire to improve life for the residents of Massachusetts
- Experience with Google Analytics and 3rd party usability tools such as Userzoom Go, Optimal Workshop,
- Experience with interactive prototyping tools such as Figma.
- Familiarity with current web development technologies and standards, including HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript
- Familiarity with web development, responsive design, and accessibility
- Familiarity with information design and data presentation
- Exceptional communication skills
