Fellow toastmasters — what often falls but never gets hurt?
It’s rain
Opening
I would like to introduce you all to my friend, Rain. I’m dedicating this speech in a form of a letter.
Rain,
My friend.
— — — —
Alone
- You spoke to me whenever I felt alone.
- You have bolstered me all these years, through ups and downs.
- Whenever I cried, you cried with me.
- You were there watching me pull all-nighters when I did my homework.
- A few weeks ago when I had the flu and you accompanied me when I stayed in my room all week long.
- I wanted to let you that I feel excited and feel most alive when you are around.
Senses
- I love running with you, I love feeling you, and I don’t mind getting drenched, well sometimes. You do realize that I get sick when you pour too much love on me, right?
- Your smell when it bounces off the plants makes me feel good
- You calm my mind with your presence
- When you speak, it helps me sleep better
What I get to do
- You helped me realize that even when it's dark outside, you have made sure there was a light in me.
- You give the reason to stay home, help me look inward, and help us find ways to enjoy ourselves with family.
- When you stop by, you know it's time for some ramen, Netflix, and freshly baked vegan chocolate chip cookies.
- You work with the sun to give us beautiful rainbows. You may not get credit most of the time.
- If you also plant that gold at the end of the rainbow please reply to this letter.
I would like to share some of the pictures that I have captured of you and us together.
