Hello. My name is Zita, and my friend Robert and I have started a new project — building a mate finder app for events.
Well, it’s kind of personal. When I was 18, my favorite band in the world came to town. I was over the moon. I bought VIP tickets 6 months in advance and counted back the days — alone.
See, the thing about liking an obscure band is that it comes with some drawbacks. Your friends won’t share your excitement when they come on the radio, or have what should medically count as a heart attack when they see your city among their tour dates. They just don’t get it.
I ended up doing what a lot of people do in this scenario — I didn’t want to go alone, so I dragged my brother and his girlfriend along. Needless to say, they looked bored the entire time. (Still, props to them for putting up with me.)
A couple of years passed, and I kept running into this problem — I can’t even count the number of events I missed simply because no one I knew was into it. We’re social creatures — everything is twice as fun when there’s someone to share the experience with.
I started realizing that I’m not the only one with this problem. More and more, I started seeing posts on social media of people looking for someone to attend their favorite show with. I got thinking — is there really no better solution for this than just shouting into the aether?
I pitched the idea of event mate finder app to my friend and co-worker Robert, and he could relate to it as well. So, with that, we started building Matenic.
Now we need you!
We want this project to be a community effort. There are some questions that need deciding along the process and we want to involve everyone who’s interested. You can sign up for Beta on our website, and we’ll occasionally ask your thoughts on a certain feature and give you updates as we go.
See you on the other side!
